What does an environmental consultant do?
An environmental consultant identifies the approvals, studies and monitoring an operation legally requires, prepares the technical documentation, files it with the pollution control boards or MoEFCC, and keeps the site compliant afterwards through renewals, returns and audits.
Which approvals does a new factory in Bangalore need?
Most new units need Consent to Establish from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board before construction and Consent to Operate before production. Projects listed in the EIA Notification also need prior Environmental Clearance, and units generating listed wastes need a separate hazardous waste authorisation.
What is the difference between Environmental Clearance and consent from the pollution control board?
Environmental Clearance is granted under the EIA Notification by MoEFCC or SEIAA and applies to scheduled project categories. Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate are issued by the State Pollution Control Board under the Water and Air Acts and apply to a much wider set of establishments. Many projects need both.
How long does the approval process take?
A complete, correctly categorised consent application moves considerably faster than one with query loops. Environmental Clearance takes longer because baseline monitoring is usually season-bound and, for some categories, a public hearing is required.
How often must we carry out environmental monitoring?
Frequency is written into your consent or clearance conditions. Quarterly ambient air and stack monitoring and monthly treated effluent testing are common, but you should always follow the frequency in your own conditions.
Do you serve clients outside Bangalore?
Yes. Our base is Karnataka and much of our work is in and around Bangalore, but we support projects across India, including central appraisal matters handled through the PARIVESH portal.
Can you help if we have already received a notice from the board?
Yes. We assess the alleged non-compliance, assemble the technical response and corrective action plan, and represent that response to the board.
How is your fee structured?
Professional fees, statutory board fees and laboratory charges are quoted as separate line items so you can see exactly what is payable to whom before you commit.
