Overview
Projects listed in the schedule of the EIA Notification, 2006 require prior Environmental Clearance before construction or expansion begins. Depending on category and capacity, the file is appraised either centrally by MoEFCC or at the state level by SEIAA and SEAC.
We manage the full sequence — categorisation, PARIVESH filings, Terms of Reference, baseline studies, the EIA and EMP report, presentations to the expert appraisal committee, and the half-yearly compliance reports that follow the grant of clearance.

Frequently asked questions
How long does Environmental Clearance take?
Timelines depend on category and whether public consultation applies. A category B2 project without public hearing can conclude in a few months, while a category A project with full EIA and public hearing usually runs considerably longer because of season-bound baseline monitoring.
Is Environmental Clearance the same as Consent from the pollution control board?
No. Environmental Clearance is granted under the EIA Notification by MoEFCC or SEIAA. Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate are separate approvals issued by the State Pollution Control Board under the Water and Air Acts. Most projects need both.
What happens if we start construction before EC?
Commencing work without prior clearance is a violation and attracts penal provisions and a separate, more onerous appraisal route. It is always cheaper to secure clearance first.
